The Yuzu Brown Sugar Iced Coffee Kit is a two-piece iced coffee set: a 1 L carton of Key Coffee's unsweetened Japanese iced black coffee and a 308 g box of YOU YI CUN's Madou yuzu peel brown sugar cubes. Sweetening black coffee with a citrus-infused brown sugar lands somewhere near an orange mocha — the yuzu peel oil reads bright and faintly bitter, which is a note coffee already has.

How do you make a yuzu brown sugar iced coffee?
Two minutes, one rule: the cube dissolves in hot water, never straight into cold coffee.
- Dissolve one yuzu brown sugar cube in 30 ml of hot water and stir until clear. This is your syrup.
- Pour the syrup into a tall glass and fill it with ice.
- Top with 200–250 ml of chilled Key Coffee.
- Stir from the bottom up so the syrup lifts through the coffee instead of pooling.
Yuzu brown sugar latte: add 60 ml of whole or oat milk after step 3.
Shaken version: combine syrup, coffee and ice in a sealed jar and shake 15 seconds for a foamed top.
Affogato style: pour the warm syrup and a splash of coffee over vanilla ice cream.
Frequently asked questions
Is this Japanese yuzu?
Not quite. The sugar cubes are infused with peel oil from Madou pomelo (文旦柚) grown in Tainan, Taiwan — a citrus in the same family as Japanese yuzu (Citrus junos) and used the same way. Taiwanese yuzu peel is rounder and more floral, closer to grapefruit zest, with less of Japanese yuzu's sharp acidity.
Is the coffee already sweetened?
No. Key Coffee No Sugar Iced Coffee is unsweetened black coffee, which is why it pairs well here — you control the sweetness entirely with the cubes.
Does it actually taste like citrus?
Subtly, yes. The yuzu peel oil comes through as a bright aromatic lift on top of the roast rather than a sour fruit flavour — more like the zest note in an orange mocha than like adding juice to coffee.
How many drinks does this make?
The 1 L carton makes about four 250 ml iced coffees. The 308 g box of sugar cubes will sweeten far more than that, so it carries over to tea, baking and desserts.
